‘Progressive muslims’; A New Fitna on our shores

The advocators of ‘modern’ and ‘mixed Islam’, aka the neo sufi camp, have always leaned on the shoulders of ‘modernization, evolution and of progressive’ ideas. Ideas which say, ‘we have to evolve with time and space, in order present a new version of Islam to the western world. We have to leave behind the traditional constraints layed by the shariyah and bring forward a new laxed version of Islam. In which our non-Muslim brethren say ‘ah yes, this ‘is’lam is not so bad. Look, they also drink, dance and have mixed prayer gatherings’. The proponents of progressive Islam always start to advance their ideas by slowing removing the foundations of Islāmic ethics. The initial stages are by removing the need for segregated areas. Thereafter molding the minds of people into accepting a non-segregated ‘Islam’.

A few months ago i wrote a piece on Zaytuna College and how they too, like other western leading ‘Islāmic’ institutions have began to give weight to such fanciful ideas. How the post 9/11 era has seen them usher in shocking changes to the operational aspects of zaytuna. From the comments at the following post: Shocking changes at Zaytuna College, California USA you can see how this idea of ‘liberal Islam’ is being fed into not only a small group of Muslims, but is slowing gaining ground on the vast majority of American Muslims. Much to my dismay, the comments only demonstrate how vast the differing versions of Islam that exist, between ‘American Islam’ and the rest of the world.
Those who say having non-segregated areas in Islāmic environments is not such a ‘big deal’, ought to think where their mentality of ‘live and let live’ , liberal Islam will take them. For instance;

  • There is a new fitna, which was born in America (as usual), and now has spread here in the UK, that promotes a completely new and satanic idea of Islam. This fitna is aptly named ‘progressive muslims’. The name in itself demonstrates their ideology. – to bring a new Islam onto the already widely available, different versions of Islam, which exists in America.
America is a strange country. Likewise, its people are also the same. They are a people who are the first to bring out new, bewildering, and egoistic ideas in our contemporary times. Anyway, these group of ‘ Progressive Muslims’ advocate the notion that men and women should be allowed to hold mixed congregational prayers and gatherings in the same hall together. An idea that says there does not need to be segregation. As this is ‘barbaric’ and backward. To show their disgust and affront to the traditional Islam, they hold regular mixed congregational prayers and ‘Islamic’ gatherings.
  • Now, the sad thing is, the neo-sufi camp i.e those Sunni muslims who say ‘segregation is not a big-issue’. Or, the fact that we have to ‘evolve in our thinking and be more adept at our approaches, taking into the consideration of the environments we live in’. Are alarmingly similar to the thinking of these ‘progressive Muslims’ who have GAY imams (yes you heard correct), allow Muslim females to marry non-Muslim men. Recently, these people have launched a UK initiative in parliament, to grow their base and make more people aware of their twisted ideas and goals. Unfortunately, within the sunni school their are pseudo-scholars like Dr. Akram Nadwi who are actively advancing such ideas.

You see, when you leave one crucial fundamental foundation of Islam, then the others will naturally fall one after the other, like in a domino effect. One of the commentators at the Zaytuna post which i had written, suggested i had been made ‘speechless’ by the good points put forward by another commentator. Who like many others in the comments were accepting the changes at zaytuna with open arms and were all-for idea of the mixed classes and liberal approach which zaytuna had taken up post 9/11. Well, to that person this post is my answer. This is why i find non-segregated classes ‘shocking’ as i can see where this ‘liberal’ approach to Islam will take them. Below is the recent Eid prayer which these progressive Muslims held:
The neo-sufi camp who advocate ‘hippie Islam aka liberal Islam’, like these ‘progressive Muslims’ should hang their heads in shame. This is where their thinking and approaches will take them. As the beginnings of these twisted Muslims were also not afar from how they think.

The above is just a sample of the dangerous ideas and approaches being taken up just to appease the non-Muslim neighbor, just out of fear Muslims get labeled as a terrorist or a backward camel-riding caveman!
One thing is clear, the name which these astray ‘Muslims’ have chosen for their group; ‘progressive muslims’, is correct and a justifiable one. As they have correctly realized they are being ‘progressive’. Progressive towards Hell that is! Finally, this is what happens when people move away from the Islam which was brought by the prophet (saw) and the companions. As someone once said, ‘you will see every twisted and wrong ideas flourishing before your 5th birthday’!

Islam is in the spotlight now more than ever before and this has caused people to question the faith itself and none more so than the new-age modernists muslims, largely from the convert western countries who are hell-bent on reforming Islam and its traditional values. This blog is a small space in the vastness of the internet where the fight to preserve, uphold and dignify the traditional inherent human values, are proactively argued against the onslaught of modernist propaganda and hate. Covering topics from current affairs to life-enriching inspirations, though to the traditional teachings of the pious and the awliyah of the past and the present. 1. Astaghfirullah what is happening no wonder
Muslims are oppressed all over the world due
to our wrong doings. These so called Muslims
are trying to change the real teachings what the
Beloved of Allah (SAW) taught us.

    2. Assalamu Alaikum,

That I believe is not what Zaytuna Institute is promoting. they are teaching traditional religious sciences, and you know by the pictures you’ve posted on this blog that these guys have not followed what has been confirmed of the practices of the blessed tradition.

      1. Walicum Asalam, Yes that is correct. They are not promoting such ideas as I said in the post. But, they are not far as such from doing so. In that, their approach and the dogma at Zaytuna has changed dramatically post 9/11. Having mixed classes is just the tip of the ice berg. They are fast heading towards this situation. For example, when the security protocols of a house has been breached then in a matter of time the house will be ransacked of it precious properties. Similarly, may be the changes at Zaytuna are not seemingly that ‘drastic’ as some may see it. However, this is only the beginning of the ‘multiply effect’. Sadly, Zaytuna is not the only institute though. There are others. Zaytuna is just an example to the growing tide of change sweeping across Muslims and American Islam in general.

    3. Slms, I think we Muslim’s should reflect on ourselves before worrying about others going to the hellfire or not, and this goes against Islam to judge who or who not will enter Heaven or Hell.
This focus on rectifying our own state InshaAllah..
Plus I’m sure someone like Shk Hamza Yusfu Hanson would not set up a school promoting such “modem non Islamic ideas”

    4. I’m sorry but Muslims for Progressive values is a different approach and there is nothing wrong with that. This article judges other while you should reflect upon your own self.
If you want to judge someone, judge people like Abu Hamza al Masri who says that a kafir in a muslim country is a booty and if someone catches him then they can keep him/her as their slave, or people who ban women from holding a banana because it resembles a penis, or people who kill gays.
You talk about MPV altering the Muslim way, well what about the fact these so called Muslim countries are denying women the right for education. Muslim Clerics have children as wives and that is ok?
Some like Ayatollah Saeedi think that the reason for earthquakes is the corruption and lack of hijab.. i mean seriously, if these are the type of Islamic teachers out there then MPV is welcome and i hope it becomes the new Islam because it does not advocate Hated.
      Peace …..

      1. You say, “I’m sorry but Muslims for Progressive values is a different approach and there is nothing wrong with that”. What values are you taking about? You exemplify the very reasons why I say American Islam and american muslims of your type are misleading many naive, young Muslims! If the pious of the past were hear today like Syyiduna Umar (ra) their answer would have been to simply behead people like you. How can you say their approaches are ‘acceptable’? How can you can you even think to allude that, being Gay, Lesbian, and to formulate unislamic rules by allowing Muslim females to marry non – Muslim women is all ‘fine and dandy’. This is exactly what this group stands for. Allah has explicitly made homosexuality and the lot HARAM. Not only in Islam but it is frowned upon and seen with disgust in all divinely revealed religions. The principle in Islam is those who make a haram halal, go out of the folds of Islam. As they have directly challenged Allah and his laws. Are you even Muslim?

        1. “Are you even Muslim?” That is a very nasty question(rather an accusation!). You should calm down and stop accusing people of leaving islam at every turn. You seem to be looking out for any reason to kick people out of the folds of Islam!

        2. you are completely missing the issue here. What is happening on this post comments alone is people are saying lesbianism, homosexuallity, holding mixed congregational prayers etc, is ‘okay and acceptable’, that there is nothing wrong being gay or lesbian. Yet, the only problem you seem to find is the way I am talking/ or rather addressing people. Look at the ture picture here brother. Islam is being reshaped & remodelled accounting to the egoistic natures of certain individuals. (this post & the comments therein, is proof in itself) and the only issue you seem to have is how I am addressing people. How I address people or the lack of it in your eyes, is not even a matter to be highlighted. When clearly, as we can see, outrageous and far more dangerous ideas are being thrown about, of Islam.

        3. And please don’t throw around personal insults. Sayyidina Umar bin Al Khattab (RadiAllahu Ta’ala ‘Anhu) was a better person than you are making out of him.

    5. Umm Waraqa. The Prophet commanded her to lead prayers in her neighborhood, and appointed her a muezzin, and told her the duty was more important than going to serve at the battlefield, ordering her to stay back from jihad to carry it out. Imamate of women is not the first, nor the last, of women’s rights to have been abandoned by the classical scholars — rights such as the right to choose freely in marriage, to divorce, to be a witness or a judge, to get an education and carry out business. Alhamdulillah some have the courage, fearing only Allah, to reclaim those rights. More power to them!

      1. Firstly, making general remarks about the prophet (saw) without actual proofs is frankly, baseless in on itself. Secondly, females leading prayers is one thing and holding ‘mixed gender congregational prayers’ is another thing. Not only that, but to say gays and lesbians are allowed in Islam and to make them imams is another thing. Understand this article before you make immature comments. Thank you

      2. If women could lead in prayer, why haven’t women lead mixed congregation at the time of the Prophet? You know why are men in front of the women? One of the reason is to decrease distractions, imagine a sea of girls going down for ruku and men behind them? Or young girls praying with young boys? The salah is as if your standing in front of god, praying to him, not thinking about the men/ women beside you or in front. Think logically, If god forbid something or allowed he did it for your own benefit.

Now to your second point, I am all up for women empowerment To your contrary classical scholars have encouraged women, as many knew that women have certain rights, and they will be accounted if unable to let her have her right: http://www.emel.com/article?id&a_id=828

Now the problem is that today, many feel that XYZ is Islam, and its not. It replicated and taught to people around the world, as image of Islam. One being of women as oppressed and we all know Islam is the contrary. That being said, there are certain distinctions between men and women, that as I mentioned before are done only to benefit ourselves, but we must be every careful as to see if they are bidah, or Islam, and only way to achieve that is by going back to the Qur’an.

    6. Why you being homophobic…….It is scientifically proven that being gay or lesbian is not a choice and who are you to decide who can be a Muslim or not..

      1. I think this sister Sara is living in cuckoo land
to even think it is scientifically proven to be gay or lesbian…. Sister do you not know what happened to the people of sodom and gommorah they indulged in this haram practice and they felt the wrath of Allah Almighty. I think you and others should truly repent about what you are saying and what you think is halal when it is haraam.

      2. What science? There is no science, is there now? What gene? what coding? what mutation? Honestly I am sick and tired of people claiming genetics for their desires. If it was genetics, why would god punish the people of Lot (pbuh)?

“The people of Lot (those dwelt in the towns of Sodom in Palestine) belied the Messengers when their brother Lot said to them, ‘Will you not fear Allah and obey Him? Verily! I am a trustworthy Messenger to you. So fear Allah, keep your duty to Him, and obey me. No reward do I ask of you for it (my Message of Islamic Monotheism) my reward is only from the Lord of the ‘alamin (mankind, jinn and all that exists). Go you in unto the males of the ‘alamin (mankind), and leave those whom Allah has created for you to be your wives? Nay, you are a trespassing people!’

“They said, ‘If you cease not, O Lot! Verily, you will be one of those who are driven out!’

“He said, ‘I am indeed, of those who disapprove with severe anger and fury your (this evil) action (of sodomy). My Lord! Save me and my family from what they do.’

“So We saved him and his family, all except an old woman (this wife) among those who remained behind.” [Al-Qur’an 26:160-171]

“And We have created everything in pairs, that perhaps you may remember.’ (Quran, 51:49)

Even plants have pairs, and even those from asexually are just clones (not considered reproductive children) of a parent that came from two parents, as even for plants out crossing is much better. So you see sister, instead of taking mine or brothers word for it, study the Quran and find answers for yourself. May ALLAH (SWT) guide you, and me, and everyone else. Ameen.

      3. Actually there is a hadith that states if anyone makes something haram halal they have disbelieved, you have to follow islam as it is and not choose what you find convenient and about you saying that it is scientifically proven as a doctor i can tell you that is absolutely untrue
homosexuality is forbidden because it destroys the family unit it destroys the cohesion of society
Homosexuality becoming prevalent is one of the signs of the coming of Masih Ad Dajjal
People should start reading books and gaining knowledge instead of believing whatever is in their environment
When people dont have any counter argument they say dont judge

    7. Sister what kind of comment is that???? He is not being homophobic but clearly stating that people are trying to make things haram to halal.
Chosing to be gay is a big sin but to beleive it to be ok and cool is even a greater sin.

    8. The state of these people is an example of how cunning and deceptive shaytan is, in that even when we are outwardly practicing shaytan can nullify our deeds and use us to propogate evil. It is so true that when we dont choose a teacher who is in line with quran and sunnah then shaytan himself becomes our teacher
And as for these people using the word progressive to deacribe themselves it s

    9. OMG so people who are Gay choose to be treated disrespectfully and based and hated?? That was a choice???? and as far as the story of Sodom, The Qu’ran says that the men of Sodom wanted to have sex with the visiting angels by force. This is an example of rape, not an example of sexual desire. Rape is about power. It is used to coerce, control or punish the victim.
Also the quran talks about sexual diversity: “Surat al-Nur (Qur’an 24:31-24:33) specifically mentions “men who are not in need of women.” These “men who are not in need of women” might have been gay or asexual, but by definition they were not heterosexual men. They are not judged or condemned anywhere in the Qur’an. ”

Regardless of whether you think rationally or not, you should respect everyone as it is one of the cardinal rules of Islam.

And as far as mixed prayers, maybe you are forgetting that during Hajj everyone prays together and in the prophet’s time both Fatima and Aisha [pbut] lead non segregated prayers….

      1. The punishment for the people of sodom was already decreed before the angels went to sodom, so trying to say that their punishment was due to the sodomites trying to force themselves on the angels is clearly wrong. It’s unbelievable how one would even come to that conclusion. Must be the blind-following of the “enlightened and progressive” “professors with PhDs in Islamic Studies (aka Oriental Studies).”

But you guys clearly reject Quran and hadith, so don’t know how much of an effect our feeble words will have. Yet, speaking against falsehood is one of our obligatory duties. And such terrible ideologies have always raised their ugly heads during the history of Islam. They came, they misguided, they left. And the only reason we even know the names of them, is because of their mention in the biographies and history books of our great scholars.

        Quran, Surah Hud 11, v76
“They said, “Fear not. We have been sent to the people of Lot.”

        Quran, Surah Hud 11, v76
“The angels said], “O Abraham, give up this [plea]. Indeed, the command of your Lord has come, and indeed, there will reach them a punishment that cannot be repelled.”

The angels said], “O Abraham, give up this [plea]. Indeed, the command of your Lord has come, and indeed, there will reach them a punishment that cannot be repelled.”

    10. Progressive Muslims are correcting false interpretations of the Quran by men who kept what was useful to their own agenda ( 4 wives, sharia law, honor killings, etc) and omitted what didn’t suit them ( women’s rights and personal responsibility to follow the right path without compulsion or physical threat). These “Progressive Muslims” are strong and fear Allah only, they do not keep polite to stupidity that runs ramped among Muslims who say one thing and do another. If Gay is a choice, then did you choose to be straight? Did you tame your passion for men so you can be “Good”? …Ya-Allah, some people can’t help themselves so please have men wear burqwas too.

      1. Sister/brother be very careful now. You are now bouldering on very dangerous grounds. “Progressive Muslims are correcting false interpretations of the Quran by men who kept what was useful to their own agenda ( 4 wives, sharia law, honor killings, etc”

You are coupling honour killings with sharia law & polygamy. You seem not have even the basic level of adab or knowledge of Islam. 1) sharia law and the ‘4 wives’ ruling (assuming that you know the complete rulings or even understand it) is directly from the prophet (saw) himself. If you disagree with anything he says or do not believe in any aspect of what he says. Just because your logic and reason does not fit in with it. Regardless of that, you will immediately become a non-muslim! Therefore you will have to re-enter Islam. The sharia law is Islam. To reject sharia law is to reject Islam. You cannot separate the two. As there is no two but only one. It is very apparent to see that your negative view of the sharia law has been moulded and fed into you by the media. Have you actually done the decent thing to sit with a scholar to understand the sharia law with out the usual stereotypes?

        2) honour killings are something which is a cultural issue. No zealous, power hungry ‘mullahs’ as your imagining it said it is part of sharia. You are getting mixed up and confused. It has nothing to do with Islam. This is what is destroying us. – Incompetent people making apparently authoritative comments thinking they know what they are talking about. Honour killings has come from the Hindu religion & Hindu culture.

        1. Sister, why do you assume I know nothing except what was fed by media and tabloids? I was stating very few examples from so many incorrect practices. I have done my research thoroughly before speaking on the subject matter. Sharia Law was created 150 plus years after Prophet Mohammed’s death. It was never mention in the Quran. Why don’t you know this if you are so informed? Please sister, look around you, Muslims are oppress by their own brothers/sisters. Islam is a mercy from Allah, but mankind has changed it to fit their own needs, neglecting basic human rights and justice. Please look into history and be mindful of what is constant and what has changed. P. Mohammed was a gentle man, honest and humble, he never forced Islam onto anyone, “under no compulsion”. Why don’t we all live by example before we condemn someone to hell? Stop saving the world with your whip and hatred, instead try good conduct and love for your people.

        2. You munafikeen are the secret agents of the US government. You are being paid to alter and change al deen al Islam. To confuse people and the lead people astray. They know they can never finish off Islam like they have done with Christianity and Judaism! Made it into a big joke. That’s why they are coming in through the back door and tryna sabotage the deen of Allah al Islam.

    11. 1 – It has been biologically proven that gays and lesbians are born as such while gender identity is developed within the first two years of life, gays, lesbians and transgender people are such before they are even capable of decision-making or grasping concepts such as right and wrong. Clearly, if children are Muslims at birth and in their childhood until taken from that state by their parents, and science tells that children are gay, lesbian or trans in that childhood state, we have to understand that God has willed them to be as such.
2 – Look back at the story of Lot. The men of the town approached strangers (the angels) and one another with lust. When a man approaches someone that he does not know, he forces that person into having intercourse or other sexual encounter without their consent, that is called rape. If you are in a relationship and you and your partner agree to sexual intercourse or other sexual encounter with one another, that is called sex, it is permissible and can be quite beautiful. Please do not come and tell me that rape and sex with a consensual partner is the same thing (and if you do, I will consider you quite messed up)! The story of Lot is about men, power, control and rape. Homosexual relationships are about love, respect and consent; that my friend is entirely different!
3- If your sole argument now rests on the idea that sexual encounters of any kind are not permissible outside of marriage and GLBT people cannot marry, then it is your responsibility as a good Muslim to make sure that they do so that Queer people are not forced into sin by their countries’ laws and regulations!

      1. Please ask Allah to guide u because you really need it are you conveniently forgetting the verse of the quran where Lot says “verily you practice your lusts on men instead of women, nay but you are a people transgressing bounds”
That is a clear condemnation of homosexuality
Not to mention there are plenty of gays who after praying and fasting became straight do research on that as well

    12. “we are to hate the sin and not sinners” – on that basis, we as a fellow brothers and sisters in Islam when we see someone is clearly making mistake then to point out the mistake and remind them of the consequences of doing so, such as even the concept of homosexuality being legal in Islam, as the primary sources, ie, Holy Quran and Sunnah clearly states the impermissibility / haram nature of such acts. So it’s correct that we shouldn’t be judgmental about how our end would be as only Allah has absolute knowledge about how our end is going to be. However, we should warn to take heed when anyone is doing wrong or going about the wrong way – as a muslim its our duty to do so. So I think the above article on the whole IS trying to highlight that point – so we should try to see what’s one is trying to say, rather than digressing from the main point.

      1. Exactly my points! Thank you brother.

In the Quran & sahih bukhari there are many Hadiths which says we have to do ‘amar bil Maruf wa nahiyal anil munkar’. Which means ‘to command the good and forbid the bad’. There is also another Hadith which states that if you see an evil being done: 1) firstly try to change it with your hands. If you can’t do that then, 2) condemn it with your tongues. If you can’t do that then 3) at least condemn it in your hearts. And this is the weakest of faith. So, how can we apply these principles of we do not be judgemental when we see evil? It is our duty to correct the person who is doing a clear haram! On this and at those times it is proper and correct to judge people and improper and incorrect not to.

        1. I believe you are trying to advise these people whom you feel have gone wrong? Fudail Ibn Iyyadh, one of the pious scholars from our predecessors, said, “A believer covers up and gives naseehah, whereas an evildoer exposes and humiliates.” Ibn Rajab commented on Fudail’s saying, “It is naseehah if it is with a cover, while humiliating is with broadcasting.”

        2. “I believe you are trying to advise these people whom you feel have gone wrong?” So I take it from this, you find nothing wrong with being a gay, lesbian, holding mixed congregational prayers. That, in your understanding being a gay, or lesbian “Muslim” is entirely fine. – There is nothing wrong with it. Since in your mind the only serious issue you seem to find with the whole article and the comments by people here, is how I am addressing people. When it comes to the truth it a Muslim’s duty to stand and speak the truth. Otherwise imam hussian (ra) would not have stood up to yazeed. Yes, in individual cases to cover the sins of a person is praiseworthy. However, here the situation Is different. People are openly rebelling against the rules stipulated by Allah. Worst is, they are encouraging others to do the same. So one must condemn them. As Muslims it is a command for us to do enjoying the good & forbid the evil. Refer to my previous comment. You seem to be going on a personal vendetta. My advise is, realise what you are doing before you continue.

        3. That’s your conclusion of what you thought of my comment. I had clearly not meant that!

I’m not going on a personal vendetta. I don’t even know you! Then why on earth would I ever have something ‘personal’ against you? I have noticed that every time there is a choice between making a positive or a negative assumption based on somebody’s comments on your blog you seem to go down the negative road. Some blogs were reasonable and reflective but not these ones.

You also seem not to have any problem at hurling accusation of kufr at people! That really shocked me. It is only from a position of sheer arrogance from the knowledge that one has gained that they would do something like that. That’s why I asked you for your qualifications in Islamic sciences for you to be making such comments on established scholars. But you have avoided answering my question.

The only reason why I have picked up on how you are saying what should be said is because
Islam is a religion of Adab(Manners), a lack of manner can change a sincere naseeha into a slander.

khair insha’Allah. I think I have had enough of this. I’ll just stop following this blog insha’Allah. May Allah guide as all. Wa Sallallahu ‘ala Sayyidina Muhammad wa ala alihi wa Sawhbihi wa Sallim.

          Wasalaam.

        4. Brother calm down. As far as I can see, there is nothing abrupt or hash that the author is saying. These people have gone to the lowest of the low. The approach of being nice and soothing towards them. Or, approaching in a different way as you are suggesting, will fall on deaf ears. The sharia allows room to be harsh at times. For example this sort of harshness is for the benefit of them in the long run. Sometimes when we are harsh on children they (children) will see that the parents are harsh and bad. It may be that they also dislike/hate the parents for it. But, only the parents know that it is for the benefit of the children that they are being harsh. But the children will not see it that way. ..And to end, if you want to leave this blog. It’s completely your choice. I for one do not see any ‘issues’ with the author and likewise many others. Just as you are expressing a voice, an opinion, so to is the author. As for your assumption he is disrespecting Zaytuna or shaykh hamza Yusuf. Someone you hold very close to your heart. So do I and the author. If your read his posts clearly he mentions at the beginning of the previous articles how he respects him. But, is only expressing an opinion. These are just my two cents.

    13. @ sister Sara interpreting the Quran without knowledge is a great sin as you have clearly done referring to Surah al Nur Quran (24:31-24:33) “men who are not in need of women”
and I quote “these men who are not in need of women might have been gay or bisexual”
Astaghfirullah how can you even think that this is what it means when there is no commentary of any ayah of the Quran or any Hadith of the Prophet (Salla’huali’wa’salam) stating that being gay is allowed and halal. You need to really look at the life of the Prophet (Salla’huali’wa’salam) and His blessed Sahabah and take example from them as you are in grave error interpreting the Quran to your ideology and thinking this is allowed.

    14. Looks like these so-called Progressives have sent an e-mail alert to other Jahils from amongst their ranks to invade the comments section
of this forum. These people are not “muslims” period. Looks like the western governments having,
failed to remove the love Islam from heart of the muslim peoples. Have funded these Dollar revolutionaries to invade the muslim communities, and promote a new Jahiliyah.

      1. Oh I’m sorry, I must’ve missed the new revelation that told us you were God. Clearly you must be since you see fit to declare who is and isn’t Muslim. I commented above in 3 points which are based both in science and in Qu’ranic observation, please find true science and research that denies any of those 1-Genetic disposition of LGBT people, 2-The innate difference between rape and consensual sexual relationships 3-The responsibility of Muslims to make legal what ought to be in order for people to live within the realm of Islam

        1. The Quran Sunnah and 1400 years of Islamic Scholarship, bear witness to the Kufr of these People, and I dont care how much money they are receiving from the government to Promote their Kufr. The story of the Prophet Lut (alayhis Salam) bears witness that these people are accursed. Sure one cannot call a person Kafir if they hold these deviant beliefs out of ignorance, but those who are deliberately promoting these beliefs, they need to repent.

The following are categories of Kufr as written by The Scholar of the Quran Allama Ibn Kathir.

          Types of Kufr (Disbelief)

The Qur’an uses the word kufr to denote people who cover up or hide realities. The Qur’an uses this word to identify those who denied Allah’s favors by not accepting His Dominion and Authority. Kufr thus is an antonym for iman or disbelief in Allah and a kafir is a non-believer. This type of kufr is called al-kufr al-akbar or major kufr. There are many types of al-kufr al-akbar:

          1) Kufr ul-‘Inad: Disbelief out of stubborness. This applies to someone who knows the truth and admits to knowing the truth and admits to knowing it with his tongue, but refuses to accept it and refrains from making a declaration. Allah, subhanahu wa ta’ala, says, “Throw into Hell every stubborn disbeliever.” [Surah Qaf (50), ayah 24]

          2) Kufr ul-Inkar: Disbelief out of denial. This applies to someone who denies with both heart and tongue. Allah, subhanahu wa ta’ala, says, “They recognize the favors of Allah, yet they deny them. Most of them are disbelievers.” [Surah Nahl (16), ayah 83]

          3) Kufr ul-Kibr: Disbelief out of arrogance and pride. The disbelief by the devils (e.g. Iblis) is an example of this type of kufr.

          4) Kufr ul-Juhud: Disbelief out of rejection. This applies to someone who aknowledges the truth in his heart, but rejects it with his tongue. This types of kufr is applicable to those who calls themselves Muslims but who reject any necessary and accepted norms of Islam such as salat and zakat. Allah, subhanahu wa ta’ala, says, “They denied them (i.e. the signs) even though their hearts believed in them, out of spite and arrogance.” [Surah Naml (27), ayah 14]

          5) Kufr ul-Nifaq: Disbelief out of hypocrisy. This applies to someone who pretends to be a believer but conceals his disbelief. Such a person is called a munafiq or hypocrite. Allah, subhanahu wa ta’ala, says, “Verily the hypocrites will be in the lowest depths of Hell. You will find no one to help them.” [SurahAn-Nisa (4), ayah 145]

          6) Kufr ul-Istihal: Disbelief out of trying to make haram into halal. This applies to someone who accepts as lawful (halal) that which Allah has made unlawful (haram) like alcohol or adultery. Only Allah, subhanahu wa ta’ala, has the prerogative to make things halal and haram and those who seek to interfere with His right are like rivals to Him and therefore fall outside the boundries of faith.

          7) Kufr ul-Kurh: Disbelief out of detesting any of Allah’s Commands. Allah, subhanahu wa ta’ala, says, “Perdition (destruction) has been consigned to those who disbelieve and He will render their actions void. This is because they are averse to that which Allah has revealed so He has made their actions fruitless.” [Surah Muhammad (47), ayah 8-9]

          8) Kufr ul-Istihzaha: Disbelief due to mockery and derision. Allah, subhanahu wa ta’ala, says, “Say: Was it at Allah, His signs and His apostles that you were mocking? Make no excuses. You have disbelieved after you have believed.” [Surah Taubah (9), ayah 65-66]

          9) Kufr ul-I’radh: Disbelief due to avoidance. This applies to those who turn away and avoid the truth. Allah, subhanahu wa ta’ala, says, “And who is more unjust than he who is reminded of his Lord’s Signs but then turns away from them. Then he forgets what he has sent forward (for the Day of Judgment).” [Surah Kahf (18), ayah 57]

          10) Kufr ul-Istibdal: Disbelief because of trying to substitute Allah’s Laws. This could take the form of (a) rejection of Allah’s Law (shari’ah) without denying it, (b) denial of Allah’s law and therefore rejecting it, or (c) substituting Allah’s laws with man-made laws. Allah, subhanahu wa ta’ala, says, “Or have they partners with Allah who have instituted for them a religion which Allah has not allowed.” [Surah Shura (42), ayah 8] Allah, subhanahu wa ta’ala, says, “Say not concerning that which your tongues put forth falsely (that) is lawful and this is forbidden so as to invent a lie against Allah. Verily, those who invent a lie against Allah will never prosper.” [Surah Nahl (16), ayah 116]

        2. What an ignoramus you are. Allah and His Messenger SAW have taught us to judge the people based upon what is apparent from them of Iman and Kufr based on the Quran and Sunnah.

This new tide of “who are you to judge,” was picked up from the Christians and kuffar. Get out of here with that ignorance.

    15. Ohh this as all gone so wrong…
it started off with the awful you tube clip of a women – I can only assume showing a group how the pray is read and done, clearing not leading the pray as from the clip you can spot many errors, as ‘MyBelief’ rudely pointed out. (Cover the faults of others and Allah will covers yours on the day of Judgement) and yet we still don’t know the reason and understanding of the video.

And than Sister Sara and everyone is talking about Homosexuality,
(just to note here from a student of people that have well trodden the path, people of Sodom were punished for their lusts that had flowed over into Haram ways (Homosexuality) and more so by than taking people by force.. never the less.. we really really need to work on ourselves instead of pointing the finger at individuals and pray that Allah grants us Heaven without ever tasting hell and focus only on that InshaAllah –

-please review this 1min 40sec clip in regards to Homosexuality by Shk Hamza Yusuf

      1. It is the groups ideology to establish a mixed sex congregational prayer althroughout America and elsewhere. This group is also active in South Africa. Their agenda is to totally reverse our understanding of Islam. To open it for the 21 century interpretation that allows gays, lesbians and bisexuals to not only be accepted in, but also give them leading positions in the communities. Like that of making them imam and muezzins. This is a clip of actual ‘Eid’ prayer they did. Check their website and YouTube channel. They do more wacky events like this. Anyway, even if they were just demonstrating, do you think that is a correct demonstration/example? Do we do our congregational prayer like this? Rather, if they were demonstration according to what you think. Then the spectators will leave with a more confused picture of Islam and a wrong one from seeing this. In the coming few weeks. These people are going to be holding an event in a park in London somewhere. Where they will be doing a congregational prayer and other things to promote their beliefs. Astagfir ullah

    16. You Sunni , Wahabis have problem with everyone, Shia, Sufi, etc…… no wonder 100% of terrorism is commited by Sunni muslims.

      1. May be the authors wording on shaykh akram is inappropriate. Nonetheless, I have to draw your attention to the fact that shaykh akram has made some very controversial remarks. Which sad to say is only increasing. I’ve read the authors post on shaykh akram:

        https://mybeliefs.co.uk/2012/04/26/dr-akram-nadwis-disastrous-mistake/

Having sat in many of dr akrams oxfordshire and the surrounding areas seminars, I have to say the author is not far off his conclusions. You can get a glimpse of why many people are calling dr akrams ‘remarks’ as controversial. Read the post and the comments which follow the post.

    17. Humans err. To err is human. I can understand it if the author of the blog disagrees with some of Shaykh’s opinions, but to use the term ‘Pseudo’ completely throws the Shaykh’s Scholarship down the drain.

    18. These people and all that are similar to them or call to what they are upon are murtadeen (if they were ever even Muslims in the first place). And there is no doubt about their kufr.

As for the fools saying “worry about yourself,” and making hundreds of excuses for these shayateen, then you idiots have not understood anything from Islam. Rather, I would go as far as to say you have not understood Tawheed and the foundations of this deen you claim to be upon. Forbidding the evil and speaking out against it is from the best of deeds and the author should be commended for bringing this great evil to the spotlight so that people be warned and avoid it. For if evil was not spoken about, then how would people avoid it?

And do not waste your time arguing on behalf of the criminals.
