Uncanny similarities between the “Wahaabiyah” movement & the Spanish Inquisition

As all historians would agree, the Spanish inquisition was a devastating blow to the Christian community from which it is still reeling back to normality. The puritanical and often brutal ideology which the Catholic Monarchs, Ferdinand II of Aragon and Isabella I of Castile established, caused untold harm and devastation to all the communities which came into its path. Many of whom were primitive cultures in the far reaches of human civilization. The primary purpose of the inquisition was to maintain Catholic orthodoxy in their kingdoms, and to replace the Medieval Inquisition which was under Papal control. Not only did the Muslims and Jews face the mindless violence of the inquisition and the force conversions, but Christians who also resisted the force conversion into Catholicism faced the same tribunal of oppression, which had been given the royal approval by the king and queen of Spain. The Spanish inquisition spared no mercy in making sure its extreme views were spread all across the world. From the archival records of the inquisition, later released when the ideology was disbanded in 1834, the inquisitors were, simply put, monsters!
The primitive cultures, which had never interacted with the civilized world, in Peru and elsewhere were welcomed into the civil world not by the open arms of civilization, but by the savage blows from the swords of the inquisitors. The christian terrorists murdered, raped and maimed all the simple cultures of the Peruvian peninsula into submission. Completely annihilating ancient civilizations which stood the test of time. We know that the Anasazi, a tribe from the south-western frontiers of USA, lost all their right to live as humans when the Spanish inquisition came into contact, forcing mass conversions and loyalty to Ferdinand II of Aragon and Isabella I of Castile.

Over the next 600 years the Spanish inquisition went on to cause havoc, destruction and terrorism to all communities who dared to resist its tidal wave of mindless violence and forceful conversion. The irony here is people assume Islam was spread by the sword. – Chuckle.
With this in mind, the Muslim world have not fared any better. With the arrival of Muhammad ibn Wahaaab (1703–1792) on the global stage, traditional Islam has been under no greater threat than the puritanical extremest teachings of this man. Initially, Wahaabism was a popular revivalist movement instigated by the eighteenth century theologian, Muhammad ibn Abd al-Wahhab from Najd, Saudi Arabia.

Later, his teachings would give rise to the global movement of salafism, more commonly known as the “Wahabbi Movement”, so called after his name; Muhammad ibn Wahhab. This movement however, would not be the “Salafism” of the pious predecessors (as they claim), but a movement far more sinister, echoing the extremists approach of the Spanish inquisition in its attempts to spread its views; converting people into salafism at all costs. In order to bring about this puritanical version of Islam, which in their eyes had been lost to the innovation of time. Violence is seen as a virtue and not a vise. In Short, what Muhammad Ibn Wahaab brought was not an idyllic, rosy painted picture of Islam , but a brutal “Saudi Inquisition”. Where, from its conception during the saud revolt against the Ottoman empire, up until today, nothing but misery and disillusionment has grown for its adherents and pain for those who oppose it.

The Saudi inquisition, given the royal approval by the king himself, Al Saud, has caused death and terrorism for all people, Muslims and non-Muslims alike. In its path to seek global dominance both Muslims and non-Muslims have fared the same treatment. Muslims who have bravely sought to fight this extremist ideology, have faced the blasts of bombs and the shots of gun fire, from Somalia to Syria. The “Wahabbiyah movement”, or the “Saudi inquisition” as i like to call it, is the cause for most if not all the cause of terrorism in the last decade.
With the close of the 18th century, the Spanish inquisition had reached its last days, formally being disbanded on July the 15th 1834. An Ideology which spanned 600 years at the expense of hundreds if not millions of lives, who were savagely put to the sword. People who would have prayed to see its demise in the 17th and 16th centuries would, had they been alive today, been shocked to see the same tyrannical, brutal and narrow-minded ideology take hold of another religion. Hijacking it’s traditionally peaceful co-existence and forcing people to accept the “Orthodox” version.

All the dominating terrorist groups in the known world today: Al Qaeda, Al Qadea in the Arabian peninsula, Al Shabab, Al Nursa front etc, have their roots in this vile ideology, uprooting legal Islāmic shrines and causing bloodshed and anarchy in many Muslim lands they operate in. In many respects these fronts are the militant wing of the ‘Saudi inquisition’, after all, all the mindless criminal activity of these groups have links with the ideology which once stemmed from 18th century Arabia, later to be named ‘Saudi Arabia’. Although, the 21st century Saudis will vehemently distance themselves from these groups. The one to blame, if anyone could be blamed for all of the terrorism caused by “Muslims” in todays world, then it can squarely be labeled towards the founder of this alienating and vile ideology; Muhammad ibn Abdul Wahaab!
Lastly, i prefer not to call this movement the “Wahaaabiyah moovement”, although contrary to popular use. Simply because ‘Al Wahaab’ is one of the names of Allah, God Almighty. Which means, the ‘giver of gifts’. It is somewhat contradictory and ironic to associate a beautiful name with the birth of a monstrous ideology. The “Wahaabiyah” movement, or rather the “Saudi inquisition,” for want of a better phrase, is the Spanish inquisition of the Muslim world.
