Thursday 14/03/13 discourse notes:
The amount of dunya that is written in the lawhi Mahfouz (the preserved tablet) for a person’s destiny will be delivered him one way or another. If it is destined for a person to become rich he will become rich. Allah will enable this to happen for him, though a person will have to put in little effort to attain this. The problem mankind faces today is they do not realise this fact. The majority of ensuing problems in this world is because of this failure to understand this fundamental fact. All wars, anarchy and trouble is because people have taken it upon themselves to get dunya no matter how; through halal or haram, legal or illegal means.
In the same token, honour and dignity is also in the hands of Allah.
There are many symbols and means of honour as understood by humans. Honour attained through money, nice clothes, cars, houses, position, etc.
However Allah teaches us in the Quran he does not need to give honour to anyone by any of these symbols of honour.
For the prophets are a great example of this. They did not have any outward signs of honour as mentioned above.
On the other hand, Allah also says he is the one who debases a person when he wishes to. A person may have all the forms and symbols of honour, power and dignity; money, cars, houses etc. However despite this Allah can still debase a person. Look at the previous presidents and prime ministers, their luxurious lives have been cut short and finished.
A person can get the symbols and forms of honour through deception, force and unjustly confiscating things, but there will no goodness in it. All goodness & blessings comes from Allah only. In the same light a person can get knowledge of both deen and dunya but it will not be beneficial knowledge unless it is turned into an asset. This is done by acting on the knowledge. Otherwise knowledge is considered as mere information.
If humanity, more specifically Muslims understood the reality of dunya many of the problems: inter-tribal conflicts, oppressions and bloodshed will end. Unfortunately, instead of understanding the reality of dunya, many of the Muslims have become the slaves of dunya itself; the employees of dunya. Their work/business runs them instead of them running the business. Many people say ‘I do not have time for prayers or good deeds as I have a business which needs running’. This shows their business is in reality running them and not the other way round. Many practicing people fall victim of this trap as well, when they start a new job or open a new business. You begin to see them slacken on the basics of Islam just like everyone else. They too claim they have no time. This is why people are physically, emotionally, spiritually and mentally drained of doing any religiously inclined work.
