The Lone Solider

“every blessings in the world is a drop of the true essence of the blessings in paradise. Every hardship in this world is a drop of the true essence of hardship in hell”. Ahmed falls into deep thoughts as he lay there on his pillow, to the echoing words he heard from his shaykh which he heard earlier on in the day. As Ahmed lays there thinking about these words, he cannot help but notice how the penetrating words of his shaykh seems to reignite the flame of the love of Islam, the prophet, the awliyah. Not to mention his ever-growing love and admiration for his shaykh. – Since his words are the sole means for his growing understanding and appreciation of Islam, the true essence of life and the reality of creation, its limitations and advantages. Tonight however, Ahmed was more than in other nights engrossed in realizing how the many hadiths relating to the hereafter on issues such as; how life will be, the greed of people on the day of judgment and in the hereafter, are already to some extent, manifest or are unfolding in this world on a daily basis. As he lay there, after another frustrating and tiring day from work. his thoughts lead him to think of the previous day in which he interacted with people.
As the prophet (sallahu’alihi’wa’salam) said to the nearest, meaning, wording, and effect “people will be reluctant to give any of their good deeds in the hereafter. when asked by one of their families members to give him/her some, in order to help his dire need. The one being asked will act as though he does not know him”. In other words despite people living, laughing, crying with one another and sharing the same household together, on that day everything will change. With this in mind Ahmed realized how true this hadith is. That not only on the day o judgment people will be such, but as he sees this takes place already here, in the world. Families/friends split up on trivial matters. A simple argument makes a person boil up inside, making a person act as though they do not know him/her. If this is the situation of people in this dunya he thought, what to say about the affairs of the hereafter? Surely people will be even more selfish and greedy in the hereafter! In light of his teacher’s wise words Ahmed realized how the reactions/appreciations/opinions of people change just as night and day. He realized how not to trust the creation wholeheartedly as only Allah is to be trusted in this matter. Simply, because his promise is the ultimate truth and the creations words and promises change just as the changing of the night and day one day they will be happy with you the next they will not. Not have to hope in creation as hoping in things which change like the breeze in the wind will ultimately lead one to have a depressed/distressed outlook on life. leading one to lose all hope altogether. A lone solider in the battle for the survival of the fittest! With these final thoughts Ahmed’s eyes automatically drew to a close and he fell asleep just as the eye lids of the sun close with the beginning of the night.

Islam is in the spotlight now more than ever before and this has caused people to question the faith itself and none more so than the new-age modernists muslims, largely from the convert western countries who are hell-bent on reforming Islam and its traditional values. This blog is a small space in the vastness of the internet where the fight to preserve, uphold and dignify the traditional inherent human values, are proactively argued against the onslaught of modernist propaganda and hate. Covering topics from current affairs to life-enriching inspirations, though to the traditional teachings of the pious and the awliyah of the past and the present.
