As i sat on the back seat of our car. Traveling back from taraweeh on a rainy night and listening to an old, yet favourite nasheed. A much treasured memory was unlocked within me.
What makes life beautiful and worth living is our ability to tap into our most prized and valued memories of Life. Those times when the very essence life and it’s tranquility can be experienced in its full glory!
The companions (may Allah be pleased with them) experienced this serenity throughout the 23 years they were in the company of the beloved (saw). The sense of understanding the complete purpose of life, situations and it’s struggles.
The human mind is an amazing piece of ingenuity. It can help a person transport himself aback to his precious and most valued memories.
It was back in 2006, during the late summer nights of August whilst in itikhaf, the surreal days and nights which fluttered passed on the wings of a butterfly. we would sit and listen to uplifting nasheeds, during the durood majlises. The handful of us who were lucky enough to have been there. Can only, and truly appreciate the magical experiences we would experience. No words can fully do justice to these out-of-world experiences!
It is by being in the company of the awliyah that one can hold onto and only receive a drop of these experiences. The experiences of being in a divine presence which allows a person to transcend every other concern/worry or problems a person may have in his/her life. The sense of complete serenity, tranquility and peace. The companions must have had these divine moments with the prophet (saw). Sitting in the masjid on a the late summers afternoon. Shaded by a few date trees. With a light breeze caressing past the companions and the sun slowly retiring, leaving a golden glow on the horizon. Whilst the companions sat on a dry and dusty floor, fully dazzled by the spectacle in front of them.

Ramadan 8 -
In this world there are 250,000 people who die every day. The prophet (saw) said ‘indeed Allah frees 600,000 people from the fire on every night of Ramadan. Their names are written on the register of people of paradise and is struck off the register of hell.
On the last night of Ramadan, Allah frees as much people he freed in the whole of Ramadan. This night is the night of reward (layaltul Jaza). – the night of eid. It has a great reverence and significance in the sight of Allah. Unfortunately we do not avail the opportunity nor do we know it’s significance. Many are busy preparing for the next days celebrations and forget everything else. This night (layaltul Jaza) is the night when the labourer gets paid his/her wages.
– In reality eid is that day when we have made Allah and his beloved (saw) happy. This should be our eid and our night of power. Eid is not merely wearing new clothes, going out and celebrating.
Al Karim, – is one of the names of Allah. We have heard this name of Allah many times before. but we have no idea what it means or what significance it has.
Al karim means: it is that being who rewards a person who does not deserve to be given a reward. The example is of a rich person who continually rewards a poor person for not doing any work or task. He keeps on paying him £300 pounds a day. Although the poor person does not deserve to be paid everyday for doing nothing.
Today we heard the 9th chapter being recited, where Allah describes to us how human beings tend to make a lot of empty promises.
– (there are many who say ‘if I can see something of the unseen I’ll change for the better!) know that it is very few people who actually change from such miraculous events. As shown from the examples of the prophets.
Remember, Allah does not do oppression on people! It is the people’s own doing that causes them to receive punishment.
– many people say ‘after I have seen the house of Allah I will change!’ But when they go hajj and come back. There is no change. If a person had one alcohol shop he opens a second. This is the same excuse people will use on the day of judgement. They will say ‘o Allah now we know. Now we have seen all there is to see. Please send us back, we will do good and be from the people of piety’. But, Allah says these people will not change. But rather if they were sent back they would do more evil than before.
– The prophet (saw) said, when a person prays dhur and then Asr. The minor sins he committed between these times are forgiven. From one fard prayer to the next, from one jummah to the next and from one Umrah to the next. Every minor sins a person does is forgiven.
However, there are three times when sins are not forgiven despite these chances for forgiveness:
1) A person who promises to deal in a business transaction with a person but does not see it through. As he gets a better offer for someone else and then chooses to sell it to the higher bidder/offerer than to the one he promised. Then he goes to the first client and makes excuses for not selling it to him.

- Ibrahim ibn Adam once said ‘I used to know a young man who used to worship so much. I said ‘no way, the devil cannot take him astray.
But, later on I came to know that his business transactions are not good. So, then I knew Satan has definitely led him astray, despite his worship’. He used to deal unjustly with people when it came to his business transactions.
Fulfilling the rights of others is tantamount of importance!
