The five types of angels who descend everyday in five different places.
Notes from the lecture on – 28/1/12
The sunnah of doing a speech/ Or, giving a kuthba:
It was the common practice of the beloved (saw) that he never used to give long speeches or lectures. The talk/kuthbas of the prophet (saw) used to be succinct, full of wisdom. Always short and simple, to the point and clear.
- There are 5 types of angels that descend everyday and make an announcement, in five different places.
1) In Mecca;
The angel makes an announcement that those who have not offered the obligatory prayers, he/she will not attain success.
2) In Madina;
The angel says ‘I am making an announcement on behalf of the prophet (saw) and Allah that those who have left the sunnah will not get intercession on the day of judgement’.
3) In Bayatul quds (Masjid al Aqsa);
The angel announces ‘those people who earn unlawful, their worship will not be accepted’.
4) In the Graveyard;
The fourth angel goes to the graveyard and asks the dead. ‘who are you most envious of?’ they reply ‘the person of knowledge and deeds. As we see his status the closet to the prophets in the world that awaits him’. The angel then asks the inhabitants of the grave ‘who do you feel most sorry of?’ they answer, ‘the one who is running after the false and deceptive world. Always thinking this and that is mine when in reality nothing is his’.
5) In the Bazaar (shopping centres);
The fifth angel descends in the shopping centres and halls, where he says, ‘o people you have heard the warnings and the teachings of the prophets and the awliyah. Yet you still continue to Earn haram, deal unlawfully, and deceive people, etc. You do not take heed of the teachings and warnings and change your ways! Know that if there were no innocent children, animals, the trees etc amongst you. Allah would have crushed you right now by his wrath!. So, fear Allah’.
The prophet (saw) said; ‘the sins you think that are small, are infact big in the eyes of Allah. The sins you think that are big are often times small in the eyes of Allah’. (paraphrased)
Explanation: Sometimes the small sins are seen as big in the eyes of allah because you do it often. This sin then ends up becoming a big sin (a small sin turns into a kabira sin). Where as sometimes when one does a major sin (a kabira sin) he/she regrets so much by doing tawbahtun nasuha (a sincere tawbah), that after this Allah completely removes the sin from your records.
So, never take it lightly when/ if you commit a sin. You never know which sins may be the cause for your eternal condemnation. This is why the awliyah and the saliheen were always cautious of their actions and did not become to pleased with their states and stations.
