What the Quran means by the day of “tomorrrow”

What the Quran means by the day of tomorrow
26th night of Ramadan
26th August 2011

Notes from the 26th night of Ramadan

In the Quran Allah (swt) explains what is really meant by the term “tomorrow”. We learn that this term has deluded and lead astray many people. How?
People think if they see this or that in a dream they will change for the good. For example: If I see the prophet (saw) I will change. Etc. When the fact of the matter is they will not! As it is only a empty statement. For these people tomorrow will never come as every the time tomorrow comes, they will say i will do it tommorow.
So what is “tomorrow” in Allah’s definition. This is the day of judgement. Allah says prepare for tomorrow. As this is the day when even childrens’ hair would turn grey out of the fear of that great day.
In sura Fatiha we learn a very interesting and important piece of knowledge. We hear, read and say Allah is the king/owner of that day. – judgement day, when we know Allah is the master of today aswell. He owns the night and day. Then why did Allah explicitly distinguish the day of judgement with such a saying?
The answer is, on that day Allah’s jalal will be manifested like no other! On that day no one will be able to even breath without the permission of Allah!
Now, we can do whatever we want without Allah interfering in our lives. However on that day, Allah the almighty will manifest his power and grandeur!
- On the day of judgement when we will be questioned people out of their ignorance and persistence in NOT accepting the witnesses to their crimes – the angels. Allah will then say there are other witnesses who will testify against you. This will be our own body. It is interesting to note here that, what we thought as our own, will testify against us! What remorse and regret there will be for us! Our bodily organs are like spies who will report to Allah on that day! As syyidina Abdul Qadir jilani (ra) says beautifully.

- Further continuing with the questioning on the day of judgement

-There will be a station where people who indulged in their desires will be questioned. This will be a very difficult station of questioning for many people to say the least! They will stay for 1000 years. – those who failed to abstain themselves from such evil deeds.
Keep in mind that these sets of questions will be asked by Allah directly and not angels. As the previous 1-20 questions will be asked by the angels.
Following this, a person will be asked about if a person fulfilled the rights of the parents or not. The next question is, if the rights of the relatives have been fulfilled or not.

2) The devil will go to great lengths to mislead a human. It is said about imam Ahmad Ibn hanbal (ra) that when he was dieing his son was saying “father please say the Kalimah”. However his (imam ahmad Ibn hanbal) father kept on replying no, not know. His son was shocked and dumbfounded! He was thinking how can this be, my father who served islam for so long is saying this? After a while his father (imam Ahmad Ibn hanbal) replied I am not saying this to you. I am saying it to shaitan who is now crying and saying that I have escaped from his grasp. I was replying to him, no, I have not yet been saved from you. As long as my sprit is in my body I have not been successful yet. Imagine! Even in the throws of death, shaitan is still trying and tries to mislead. So. Be careful on that time of death!
