Someone asked me, my thoughts on the baseless and thoughtless act of burning a holy book of any religion. On this occasion the crazed fashion that is sweeping the world recently, the fashion of burning the Quran. The simple-minded, dumb, lowlife, hotheads who see burning a holy book of a religion will give answers to their twisted understanding of freedom are foolish enough to also believe in pre defined definition of ‘freedom’ supplied to them by their governments. Which always seems to differ and change depending on the time and location you live in. Take for example the new law imposed by the french government recently. Banning the wearing of the face veil, knowing the fact that it would be in direct violation of ‘freedom’ to the many thousands of muslim women who wear the face veil. This is a perfect example where the government supplied definition of what is ‘freedom’ is accepted by the people without question. A tasteless food they are willing to shove down their dry throats without any hesitation!
However, when it comes to religion than it’s termed as oppression! If religion tries to guide and define the freedom and limits of people, people are in uproar and are shouting and screaming “oppression” “injustice” etc
They are willing to be slaves of their governments instead of being the slaves of Allah. Who gave the rights to the government of france to violate the freedom of rights, the freedom of expression of the citizens of france? To define it to comply with their version of what this word ‘freedom’ means? why then are there no one burning the french constitution, claiming that it oppresses? why is the silence this time? Why the double standards???
Times like this (recent times) are a provocation with to need to provoke anyone. if someone swears, attacks and ridicules you and does not expect to receive a reaction is a fool with no brain! This brings me to my next point, the people who are doing this heinous act will have no excuse on the day of judgement, in front of Allah of not receiving the message of Dheen. Of not receiving the message of Islam. Instead of using their time and energy to find of what Islam really has to say (without interpreting Islam with the stereotypical views cast in their minds by the media and governments). They are using their time and energy to ridicule and find faults in Islam. Islam is pretty much in the face of everyone now whether they like it or not. No one can have an excuse on the day of judgement of not knowing what Islam is. Although the media presents the twisted view of Islam, in newspapers, radio shows, tv shows etc. It is however there, people do talk about it. This only means that if anyone wants to know what Islam really is they only have to search in the right places. The excuse of not knowing what Islam is, would be acceptable if we were living lets say 50 or 60 years ago when the media was not as influential as now. Then there would be a possibility of people not knowing much about Islam, whether negative or positive. Islam is everywhere now. From your average day at the office to the places of social gatherings people are talking, smelling, eating and sleeping Islam. Islam has become a hot topic. So in terms of dawah, although the media is doing all it can to make fun of Islam, it is actually doing to some degree the work of dawah. At least people are aware of the presence of Islam, wether good or bad that’s another question.
Lastly, people burning religious books or acting differently to other people’s faith only goes to prove these are acts out of fear. Fear of what, i hear you say? well, fear of the unknown. Not knowing what a new thought, a new idea, a new concept may bring on to the table. Fear of how the new food amongst the usual menu on the table may taste
To ease the tense situation people are in, i would suggest you in listen to the following nasheed (song)
The melodious voice of Nadar Khan
